Bears defeat Edmonson County in district tournament's semifinals

WHITESVILLE — Butler County defeated Edmonson County 9-4 in the semifinals of the 12th District Softball Tournament at Whitesville Trinity on Monday, May 19.

Miley Franzell started in the circle for Butler County and earned the win. Franzell pitched five and one-third innings for the Bears.

Following Franzell in the circle for Butler County, Callyn Smith pitched the final one and two-thirds innings. Smith struck out one Edmonson County batter.

Butler County scored nine runs on 16 hits. Franzell (one hit), Taylor Smith (two hits, two RBIs), Callyn Smith (two hits, two RBIs), Karrington Hunt (four hits), Emmalin Mode (three hits, one RBI), Jenna Tomes (two hits, one RBI) and Madson Jones (two hits) each made an impact at the plate in Butler Couty's win. Both Mode and Taylor Smith doubled for the Bears.

Butler County advanced to meet host Whitesville Trinity in the 12th District Softball Tournament title game.
