Bears defeat Daviess County, 57-42

MORGANTOWN - Butler County notched its second straight win on Tuesday night, defeating visiting Daviess County 57-42 in an early-season boys' high school basketball game.

The Bears dealt 3rd Region rival Daviess County its first loss in the 2019-20 boys' high school basketball season. The Panthers dropped into the loss column following wins over Whitesville Trinity, Warren East and Trigg County.

With the win, Butler County moved to 2-0.

Daviess County dropped to 3-1 with the loss.

Butler County shot 47.5 percent (19-of-40) from the field. The Bears were 4-of-10 (40 percent) from 3-point range.

Butler County shot 75 percent (15-of-20) from the free throw line.

Parker Rice led Butler County with 20 points. Accompanying Rice in double figures in scoring for the Bears, Solomon Flener netted 13 points and Zach Tutko added 10 points. 

Flener recorded a  double-double, hauling in 10 rebounds for the Bears.

The additional scorers for Butler County were Hayden Hodge (four points), Levi McMillin (three points), Macauley Hampton (three points), Brody Hunt (two points) and Jagger Henderson (two points). 

The Bears are due back on the court later in the week. Butler County is scheduled to host familiar foe Whitesville Trinity for a 12th District boys' basketball game at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13.
