Bears & Cougars to battle in Morgantown

A soggy weather forecast may make for an interesting football game tonight in Morgantown as the Butler County Bears (2-1) play host to the Grayson County (2-2).  Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m. The Bears are coming off a 45-3 drubbing of Breckinridge.  Grayson fell last week to Daviess County but have notched wins against Hancock and Edmonson.
B.C.H.S. Coach Ryan Emmick expects a good Cougar team to take the field tonight.
"They are a solid, fundamental football team.  Coach (Ed) Smart is a great coach and does an excellent job preparing his kids," said Emmick.  "They run a veer offense that will put you in bad situations.  We have to do a great job with our techniques and responsibilities to be successful.  This is a game that comes down to field position, especially with the potential rain and storms coming in.  We will have to control the line of scrimmage and take care of the football.  We have to be mentally strong and play a full four quarters of football this week in order to be successful."
Penalties were plentiful in last week's game at Breck - something Coach Emmick hopes to keep in check tonight.
"We have a group of passionate young men who lay it all on the line each and every week.  A lot of the penalties were effort penalties, those are correctable penalties that I’ll take as long as we learn from them," said Emmick.  "There are games every season where the yellow flags fly and we have looked at the film and learn from it.  I have talked to the boys and continue to emphasize that our biggest opponent is ourselves.  We have to go out and execute to the best of our ability and when we do that, we are a very good football team," added Emmick.
Tonight's game will be broadcast live on WLBQ 1570 and streamed on www.beechtreenews.com with David Clark and Mark Allen.
