Bears compete in region tournament
BRANDENBURG — Butler County's 2025 season ended in the quarterfinals of the 3rd Region Softball Tournament.
Host Meade County pulled away to defeat Butler County 10-0 in five innings in the quarterfinals of the 3rd Region Softball Tournament on Monday, May 26.
Meade County scored its first run in the opening inning and maintained a slim lead until the fourth inning. Extending its lead, Meade County manufactured six runs in the bottom half of the fourth frame.
Productive Meade County scored three runs in the bottom half of the fifth inning to register the 10-run win.
Following the loss, 12th District Runner-up Butler County exited the 2025 high school softball season 10-24.
Miley Franzell started in the circle for Butler County and took the loss. Franzell pitched three and two-thirds innings for the Bears.
Contributing from the circle for Butler County, Callyn Smith pitched one inning in relief.
Franzell and Smith each recorded one strikeout.
Butler County was limited to three hits in the season-ending loss. Franzell connected for two of Butler County's three hits. Chipping in at the plate for Butler County, Emmalin Mode added one hit.
