Bears to compete in Independence Bank Classic

OWENSBORO — Third Region member Butler County is scheduled to compete in the Independence Bank Classic at the Owensboro Sportscenter Wednesday, Dec. 28-Thursday, Dec. 29. 
Teams from multiple regions are poised to take the court for the Independence Bank Classic. 
Butler County is slated to meet Cooper (Ninth Region) in the opening round of the Independence Bank Classic at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28. 
The Bears are matched up against Hart County (Fifth Region) in the second round of the Independence Bank Classic at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29. 
Prior to Christmas, Butler County compiled a 7-4 record.
Cooper entered the holiday break 5-5. 
Before Christmas, Hart County put together a 4-4 record. 
Sophomore guard Ty Price and sophomore forward Lawson Rice are combining to lead the Bears. 
Price is averaging 30.4 points per game for the Bears. The Butler County sophomore guard ranks fourth in the state in scoring.
Rice is delivering a double-double for Butler County, averaging 22.3 points and 12.7 rebounds per game. The Butler County sophomore forward ranks third in the state in rebounding. 
The Bears resumed practice earlier in the week.
