Bears bounce back, notch win over Hart County

OWENSBORO — Bouncing back from a loss one day earlier, Butler County pulled away to beat Hart County 61-46 in the Independence Bank Classic at the Owensboro SportsCenter on Thursday, Dec. 29. 

Butler County shot 50 percent (24-of-48) from the field in the win. The Bears connected on two of eight three-point field goal attempts.

Butler County shot 78.6 percent (11-of-14) from the free throw line. 

Ty Price scored a game-high 28 points to lead Butler County to the win. Price shot 100 percent (six-of-six) from the free throw line.

Accompanying Price in double figures for the Bears, Lawson Rice netted 17 points.

Finishing near double figures for Butler County, Justin Castlen added eight points.

Chipping in offensively for the Bears, Luke Laughing and Trever Deweese contributed four points apiece. 

Rice and Deweese combined to pace Butler County inside, claiming nine rebounds and eight rebounds, respectively.

Butler County is scheduled to host Third Region rival Apollo for its next game on Tuesday, Jan. 3. Tip-off for the Butler County-Apollo boys' basketball game is set for 7:30 p.m. in Morgantown.
