Bears beat Waggener for first win in 2021 season

Notching its first win in the 2021 high school football season, Butler County beat visiting Waggener 20-14 on Friday, Aug. 27.

Following the win, Butler County evened its record to 1-1.

As a result of the loss, Waggener, a team from Louisville, dropped to 0-2.

Quarterback Jagger Henderson led Butler County to the win, completing 10 of 19 passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns. The Butler County quarterback completed at least one pass to four different receivers. Henderson, who threw two interceptions, rushed five times for 29 yards and one touchdown.

Contributing on the ground for the Bears in the victory, Colton Dunnells rushed nine times for 32 yards. 

Luke Laughing hauled in five receptions for 51 yards in the Bears' win.

On the receiving end of both of Henderson's scoring passes, Solomon Flener reeled in four receptions for 38 yards and two touchdowns. 

Josh Morris led the Bears' defensive effort, recording 11 tackles.

Ranking second behind Morris in tackles for Butler County, Jake McKee and Landon Binion made six stops apiece. 

Butler County, under the direction of Coach Brandon Embry, broke into the win column after falling to Russellville in the Linton-Wren Kick-off Classic on Friday, Aug. 20. 

The Bears are scheduled to host Breckinridge County on Friday, Sept. 3. Kickoff for the Butler County-Breckinridge County football game is set for 7 p.m.
