Bears beat Grayson County in five innings, 19-9

MORGANTOWN - Butler County pulled away to beat visiting Grayson County 19-9 in five innings in the semifinals of the 12th District Softball Tournament on Monday, May 31.

The win allows Butler County to advance to the 12th District Softball Tournament title game.
The loss eliminated Grayson County from the postseason. 
Butler County scored 10 runs in the bottom half of the third inning to put the game completely out of Grayson County's collective reach. 
Aliceson Hunt earned the win in the circle for the Bears. Hunt surrendered nine runs on 13 hits over five innings, striking out six and walking one.
Madi Schultz took the pitching loss for Grayson County. Schultz pitched two innings, allowing nine runs on six hits.
Defensively, Butler County turned in an error-free performance.  
The Bears outhit Grayson County 18-13.
Carley Jones homered for Butler County in the first inning. 
Jones, Aleace Hall, Olivia Austin, Isabella Akers, Autumn Proctor and Madison Clark each recorded multiple hits for the Bears. Hall went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Butler County's offensive attack. 
Austin delivered a game-high four RBIs for the Bears while Jones and Hall drove in three runs apiece. 
Addy Bratcher, Shelby Davis, Autumn Riggs and Annie Kiper each collected multiple hits for Grayson County, which committed four errors in its season-ending loss.
In addition to advancing to the district title game, Butler County qualified for the 3rd Region Softball Tournament. 
Aleace Hall and Allie Hunt were named All-Season Players.
 
Conley Moore and Aleace Hall were named All-Academic.
