Bears beat Eagles for 10th win in 11 games 

 

HARTFORD — Notching its 10th win in 11 games, Butler County beat Ohio County 61-45 in a non-district boys' high school basketball game on Tuesday, Feb. 13. 

Butler County improved to 17-7 after posting the win.

Following the loss, Ohio County dropped to 13-12. 

Ohio County outscored Butler County 11-9 in the opening quarter but couldn't keep up its early pace. 

Butler County battled back from behind to lead 22-19 at halftime and stretched its lead after the intermission period. 

Excelling offensively and defensively after the break, Butler County led 48-29 at the conclusion of the third quarter. 

Ty Price scored 22 points to lead Butler County to its third straight win.

Accompanying Price in double figures for Butler County, Lawson Rice scored 15 points and Briar Griffin netted 14 points.

Aiding Butler County in its win, Justin Castlen added eight points and Trever Deweese contributed two points. 

Butler County is scheduled to host Henderson County in the Hebrews Classic on Saturday, Feb. 17. Tip-off for the Butler County-Henderson County boys' basketball game is set for 5:30 p.m..

 

 

Lady Bears claim win over Ohio County

 

HARTFORD — Butler County pulled away to beat Ohio County 54-41 in a non-district girls' high school basketball game on Tuesday, Feb. 13. 

The win allowed Butler County to halt a losing skid at four games. 

After registering the win, Butler County improved to 13-12. 

Following the loss, Ohio County dropped to 8-18. 

Ohio County outscored Butler County 11-10 in the opening quarter but faltered.

Butler County used a 12-5 scoring advantage in the second quarter to lead 22-16 at halftime.

Extending its lead, Butler County led 37-30 at the conclusion of the third quarter.   

Ava Wilson scored 13 points to lead Butler County to the win.

Accompanying Wilson in double figures for Butler County, Parker Willoughby scored 11 points and Ann Marie Skaggs netted 10 points. 

Seven different players broke into Butler County's scoring column. The additional scorers for Butler County were Taylor Leach (seven points), Addison Miller (seven points), Bailey Moore (four points) and Maddie Jones (two points).
