Bear Company During Spring Break

Bear Unit at the Air Museum

This spring break BCHS NJROTC Bear Company took a trip down to Pensacola, Florida. Everything started off great early Friday morning at 7:00am when all 35 cadets were ready and waiting to leave at the high school. Though the drive was 10 hours long, it went off without a hitch and we made it there earlier than expected!

Here’s a group of the cadets with the N.V.G.’s (Night Vision Goggles) on.

Day two of the trip went great as well, with the help of Ensign Andrew Faulk, Ensign Zack Mix, and Ensign Lindsay Grover they did a fantastic job of taking all the cadets on a tour around the base showing us hangers and airplanes and a lot of the different jobs that they have, they even let all the cadets tryout night-vision goggles and try out their flight simulators! After our tour ended at about 11:00am everybody headed to lunch, then it was off to the beach. At about 5:00pm everybody went out to eat then back to the barracks to get some shut eye.

On our third day of the trip we went to the Aviation’s museum where everyone got to check out cool planes and helicopters in the past and learn how they worked. While at the museum we got to watch the Blue Angels practice their routine and see their demonstrations, you haven’t heard “loud” until you’ve been to one of their shows!

After their demonstration we spent another two hours on the beach. After the beach we went back to the rooms to rest and hang out. On our last day we woke up early Thursday morning, packed our belongings, made sure our rooms were tidied up and cleaned and we hit the road again for another 10 hour long drive back to the high school. Everybody had an amazing time and some experienced things they won’t forget.
