BCXC Competes at Hopkins County Central Thunder Invitational

The Butler County cross-country team traveled to Madisonville Thursday September 22nd to compete in the Hopkins County Central Thunder Invitational.

For the boys middle school/elementary 2.5K race, Garrison Odle, 5th grader at MES, finished 7th overall and received a race t-shirt.

The girls middle school/elementary race was led by Delaney Embry, 5th grader at MES, who earned the silver medal for 2nd overall, and Reece Robbins, 5th grader at MES, the bronze medal for finishing 3rd overall. Dalys Bishop, 7th grader at BCMS, also finished in the top ten for Butler County and all three runners received race t-shirts for their accomplishments.

Butler County was led by 8th grader Maranda Pierson, who finished 3rd overall with a time of 23:13, and thus receiving the bronze medal. Kierra Neighbors, 6th grader, and Olivia Neighbors, 8th grader, finished 4th and 5th respectively with times of 23:15 and 23:16. All three girls received race t-shirts for finishing in the top ten. Chanda Hampton, 10th grader, and Hannah Perry, 7th grader, also placed well for the team finishing 11th and 12th overall to help secure the teams 2nd place trophy.

The varsity boys’ team for Butler County was led by Ethan Jenkins, 10th grader, who finished 3rd overall receiving the bronze medal with a time of 19:20. Kenneth Johnson, 11th grader, finished 8th overall, and Dylan Havens, 11th grader, finished 10th overall. The top three boys for Butler County received race t-shirts for finishing in the top ten. Matthew Embry, 9th grader, and Drew Henderson, 10th grader, were the 4th and 5th finishers for Butler County and anchored the runner-up honors.  The varsity boys’ team is pictured above.

The varsity cross-country team will compete at Barren County this week and the Muhlenberg County Invitational on October 8th. Good luck to the team!
