BCPL Seed Library Is Open

The Butler County Public Library is encouraging local residents to garden with its seed library.

The seed library will allow people to select up to 10 free packets of seeds per growing season. The library will offer herb, vegetable and fruit seeds.   You may ask why they belong in the library?  Just as traditional libraries enrich a community by providing a way to share books, seed libraries enrich the gardening community by allowing gardeners to share. There are many parallels.  Seed libraries also support information sharing and preservation.

OUR MISSION:

BCPL Seed Library is a free seed project committed to increasing the capacity of our community to feed itself wholesome food by means of education that fosters community resilience, self-reliance and a culture of sharing.

All seed packets will be ready to select by 3/21/19

Red Onion, yellow onion, radish, corn, lettuce, okra, squash, green beans, zucchini, lettuce, peas, tomatoes, watermelon and various herbs.  All seeds were donated by the BC Extension Service.
