BCPL: Ghost Stories for Teens and Adults

Tuesday 10/22 @ 5:30 pm  Ghost stories for teens and adults.

The library has launched 4 new entertainment databases for patrons.

These knew digital resources can be enjoyed on your mobile devices through the RBdigital app, as well as desktop computers and televisions with app access.  Patrons must create an account with RBdigital using their library card.  We will provide 4 entertainment streaming options.  Below is a description of each.  You must register with your BC Library card and  create an account with RBDigital.  The best thing about these services is for example if Indieflix isn’t used by BC patrons during the month, the library doesn’t have to pay for the service that month.  This is a great way for me to test the waters with streaming services without spending a large amount of money.

Stingray Qello:  Stingray Qello is the only place to watch over 1,500 of the most amazing live moments in music. It’s the world’s largest collection of full-length concerts and music documentaries streamed on-demand to just about any digital device. It’s like a never-ending concert ticket. Qello spans over 30 genres, from classical to rock, reggae to country. Enjoy music from the 1920s to today’s hottest artists, including Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, and Aerosmith.

Acorn TV:  Hailed as a “glorious streaming service … an essential must-have” by The Hollywood Reporter, Acorn TV streams world-class mysteries, dramas, and comedies from Britain and beyond, including a full slate of original and exclusive programming. Just like Netflix, you can binge-watch popular shows like Doc Martin, Midsomer Murders, Inspector George Gently, Vera, Murdoch Mysteries, and more. With thousands of hours of commercial-free programming and new shows added weekly, there’s always something to watch.  The only this I don’t like about this entertainment portion is you have to create your own account within Acorn TV.  If AcronTV is the only thing a person is interested in he/she can download Acorntv app instead of RBDigital.

The Great Courses:  You can now "binge-learn” over 150 of the most popular courses taught by the world’s top professors from The Great Courses Library Collection. With hundreds of videos on subjects ranging from photography to physics, astronomy to art, history to health, and everything in between, you’re sure to find courses that interest you. Each lesson is about 30 minutes in length—tune in to test out any lesson or course for the first few minutes, or for as long as you want.

IndieFlix: Patrons can enjoy unlimited access to over 8,000 high-quality shorts, features, documentaries, classic TV shows and Web series from 85 countries. Programming includes comedies, dramas, horror, documentaries, animations, classic TV, short films, and over 40 other channels and genres. What I like about this is IndieFlix, directly supports filmmakers by letting them earn money for every minute of video watched.

Each 7-day checkout provides unlimited access to everything in that entertainment category.  For example want to try Qello you would check it out for seven days and if you also want The Great Courses you would have to check it out as well. After 7-days, check out another 7-day access to resume viewing your content.
