BCMS Writing Project
Butler County Middle School 7th grade students in Mr. Hampton’s writing classes have officially sent their words out into the world.
As part of a recent Business and Professional Letter Writing Project, students selected a favorite company, brand, or organization and crafted a formal letter offering thoughtful praise and/or constructive suggestions. From major sports franchises and restaurants to retail stores and nonprofit organizations, students wrote with purpose, authenticity, and real-world audience awareness.
In total, approximately 150 letters were mailed to companies across the United States, with a few even traveling internationally. Students carefully followed proper business letter format, practiced professional tone, and focused on clear, respectful communication—skills that extend far beyond the classroom.
Now comes the exciting part: the waiting.
Students are hopeful that responses will begin arriving in the coming weeks. Whether they receive replies or not, the experience of writing to real companies has already given students a meaningful glimpse into how effective communication can make their voices heard.
Mr. Hampton shared that projects like this help students understand that writing is not just an academic exercise, it is a powerful tool that connects them to the real world.
Stay tuned… the mailbox may soon be busy at BCMS.
