BCMS Travel Club Takes on NYC
The Butler County Middle School Travel Club recently returned from a jam-packed spring break trip to New York City. The group of 29, 15 students grades 6-9, and 14 adults, flew to NYC on April 1st and returned on April 4th. Despite the short trip, the group shared many sights and experiences. Adventures included: riding 87 ½ yards under water in the Lincoln Tunnel, taking in the breathtaking views from atop Rockefeller Center, Little Italy, Chinatown, the MET, Times Square and the 9/11 Museum and Memorial, just to name a few.
Student traveler Laney Bell Hampton said of the trip “New York was a great opportunity to learn and experience many new and exciting things, all while having fun with friends.”
Cody Donaldson, BCMS Assistant Principal and coordinator of the trip said, “Each time we travel I get to experience the light in the students’ eyes as they see things they have only seen on television or their phone. For many of the students, this is their first experience at an airport and traveling outside of Kentucky. Watching their horizons expand past what they know in Butler County is what makes every trip a success!”
The BCMS Travel Club has set their sights on Washington DC, for their next trip, with a date to be determined.
