BCMS STLP Wins at State!

"The Stars" by Ava Tuck

On March 22, 2012, BCMS STLP traveled to Lexington, KY to attend and compete at the STLP State Championship.  The day was long and filled with many competitions for the students. With over 6,000 students across the state at the competition our students stood out in many areas.

1st place winners are Ava Tuck for her Original Art piece named The Stars and Mikayla Iler, Hannah McClelland and Hannah Perry for Fundraiser/Entrepreneur Service for the Butler County Calendars that they made and sold.

2nd place winner was Mason Howard for his Original Art named The Tangled Web.

4th place winner was Hayden Johnson for her Designed Graphic named Colors.

Honorable Mention - 5th Place winners were Madison Ford, Kane Gott, Gracie Grubb, Evan Johnson and Olivia Jones for their Geek Squad Ready (web design).  They created a website about How Women have Influence Technology. Visit http://www.wix.com/oliviajones/tech to view their work.

Honorable Mention - for Digital Music was Tori Hampton and Jenna Hawkins named Awesome, and Shandi Lindsey and Hannah McKinney for their Original Content (Animation) piece title Bullying: The After Effects (both are on the BCMS STLP webpage at http://www.butlerschools.net/school_departments2.aspx?schoolID=2&deptID=144).

Two of the Showcase groups made it to Tier 3 judging and placed in the Top 20.  Geek Girls, who had provided professional development to our teachers throughout the district, included Addison Hall, Allie Easley, Hayden Johnson and Tori Shain.

KBA: Festival of Technology, who encouraged and promoted reading the KBA books, included Gracie Deel, Ivy Donaldson, Haley Hope, Lauren Tyree and Macy West. 

BCMS STLP had an outstanding year with great students who worked very hard.  The BCMS STLP Sponsors, faculty, administrator and staff are very proud of these students and all of their accomplishments.
