BCMS partners with Delta, MB&T, and PTO for new sign

Tim Freeman, Amanda Terrell, Darrell McKee, Scott Howard, and Pam Staples

A much-improved, interactive sign is something Butler County Middle School Principal Tim Freeman and Assistant Principal Cody Donaldson have wanted for a long time.  After reaching out to potential sponsors, they got their wish.  Recently, BCMS partnered with Delta Faucets, Morgantown Bank and Trust and the schools' partent-teacher organization to install a completely new digital sign in front of the middle school.

Freeman and Donaldson, in an effort to save additional money, opted to travel to Louisville during spring break to pick up the sign and save on shipping costs.  They also did much of the installation work themselves, along with the help of local contractors Doug and Enaleen Smith of S&E Plumbing & Electric.

BCMS school officials joined with Butler County Schools' Superintendent Scott Howard, Amanda Terrell from Delta Faucets, Darrell McKee from Morgantown Bank & Trust, BCMS PTO Treasurer Pam Staples on Wednesday, April 26, to officially unveil the new sign.

"I'm really glad that we were able to move forward on this project," said Freeman.  "It will provide us with another way to communicate with parents and the public."
Freeman also had high praise for Mr. Donaldson's work in securing the new sign.
"Mr. Donaldson took the lead on this project and did a ton of work in bringing it to completion.  He deserves a lot of credit for making this happen," added Freeman.

As corporate sponsors, Delta Faucets and Morgantown Bank and Trust stepped forward to help with the project.

"We're extremely grateful that Delta and MB&T came on board to help make this project possible," said Donaldson.

"Morgantown Bank & Trust is extremely proud of our schools and of our youth and we hope that the new sign will provide enhanced communications for the students, parents and the community," said Jason Jones, of MB&T.  "Our schools are a beacon of light and hope to many and this sign helps to make that light even brighter!  We were thrilled to partner with our good neighbors at Delta Faucet and with the school system in order to make this sign possible."

Ms. Terrell said Delta was proud to join in the effort to secure the sign and can see positive benefits to the school.

“Though the dollars spent are external to what is considered essential for education of the students, the morale increase to the student population, as well as the community, through aesthetic and technological advancements, can go a long way toward making people want to come to, and be involved in, the school on a more regular basis, in addition to fostering communication," said Terrell.

Supt. Scott Howard was glad to see local schools partner with the local businesss community in a way to  benefit education.

"We are so thankful for the beautiful sign.  We are always striving to have better communication with all of our stakeholders and this sign is the perfect avenue to do that," said Howard.  "The partnership between BCMS PTO, Delta, and Morgantown Bank is great and this could not have happened without them.  I appreciate the work done by Mr. Freeman and Mr. Donaldson, as well as Doug and Enaleen Smith for their hard work making this dream a reality."

According to Mr. Freeman, the sign will be updated frequently with school news and announcements and he enourages parents to drive by the school and view the new sign.
