The Butler County Middle School Lady Bears' basketball team wrapped up its 2013 season last weekend with the annual Green River Valley
Conference Tournament.  The 8th grade team fell to Edmonson County 55-26, while the 7th grade team lost to Breckinridge County 46-24.  The tournament was held at McLean County. 
In 8th grade action, the Lady Bears played strong through the first quarter, only trailing by four at 15-11.  In the second, Edmonson ran out a 10-point margin to make the halftime score 27-13.  The Lady 'Cats extended their lead in the second half on their way to the win.
Leading the way for Butler County was Tori McKinney with 8 points. 
Maddie Cardwell had 7 points off the bench.

The third and fourth quarters erased good first and second quarters in the 7th grade game as Butler and Breck played neck-and-neck the first half.  The Tigers held a slim 22-20 advantage at halftime. 

Breck exploded in the third quarter with 16 points, holding the Lady Bears to a single basket.
Butler's offensive problems continued in the fourth as the Lady Tigers held on for the 46-24 win.
