The Butler County Middle School Bears football team kicked off the 2019 season on the road against the Breckinridge County Tigers on August 13. In the 7th grade match-up the Bears got off to a rough start and had to fight from behind early. With the adjustments made at halftime, the Bears came out and competed a lot better in the second half. The Tigers would still end up defeating the Bears with a 22-6 score.

In the 8th grade game, the Tigers would strike early and lead the Bears 8-0.  shortly after the Bears would find their way to the end zone multiple times en route to a 22-8 win.  

The Bears’ defense stepped up and was able to hold the Tiger scoreless after their initial touchdown.  

BCMS Head Coach Kory Johnson has preached to his team that  “if we do the little things right the score will take care of itself.”

“We have a lot to improve on and a lot of areas to get better in,” said Johnson.  

Assistant coaches are Josh Amos, Bryan Phelps, and Jake Martin.
