BCMS Football Now 4-1

BCMS Football had a tough night at Edmonson County with both 7th and 8th grade teams coming up short at the end of the night. Edmonson's 7th grade simply proved to be too much for the Bears to handle Tuesday night.  They came out strong offensively and the Bears defense could not contain the Wildcats.  To make things worse,  the Bears offense was also unable to get things going.  The Bears lost with a score of 36-0 moving them to 3-2 on the season.

BCMS 8th grade started their game off strong in spite of missing injured quarterback Jake McKee with William Jones running the ball 60 yards to score on the Bears first play of the game. Colton Dunnels converted the 2 point conversion that followed. The Bears went on to score again before halftime with a touchdown by Landon Phelps. The Bears defense was getting the job done as well in the first half keeping the Wildcats scoreless.  The Bears looked to be in a good position at halftime leading 14-0.

After halftime, the wheels came off for the Bears defensively.  Landons Phelps did get into the endzone once more in the third quarter. The Wildcats, however, did some major scoring of their own putting 20 points on the scoreboard in the third quarter alone. The Wildcats scored again in the fourth quarter causing the Bears to lose a heartbreaker 28-20.  That was the 8th grades first loss of the season. They are now 4-1.

Coach Flener emphasized how disappointing the loss was having lost after having a nice lead to a GRVC opponent. Flener, always looking ahead, stated, "This will make us better.  We will watch film and correct our mistakes. We have plenty to work on,  and that is exactly what we will be doing in practice."
