BCMS FOOTBALL: Bears battle Ohio, Daviess
On Tuesday, August 20th, the BCMS Bears hosted the Ohio County Middle School Eagles. BCMS Coach Kory Johnson encouraged players and parents to fill the stadium and that’s exactly what happened. The Bears' Den was full of spectators as both squads shut out the Eagles.
Bo Abbott led the seventh grade team to a 38-0 victory. Eighth grade quarterback Brody Dockery led his squad to a 30-0 win. Both squads have exceptional offensive and defensive lines this year.
After the win on Tuesday, the team traveled to Daviess County (Class 6A) on Thursday, August 11. Both games were intense and competitive. The 7th grade headed into halftime 0-0 and came out strong in the 3rd quarter. The Bears were up 18-12 with 6 seconds remaining until the Panthers scored, sending the game into overtime. The Bears clinched the victory in double overtime winning 24-18.
As if double overtime wasn’t enough for the Bear fans, the 8th grade squad went into triple overtime, falling short with a score of 8-6. After the game, Coach Johnson approached his teams and praised them for the fight and grit they played with.
“It was a tough test before heading into district play and we got exactly what we needed to set us up for a GRVC Championship," said Johnson.
