BCMS Football Advances to Regional Finals

Butler County Middle School Bears Football played Thursday, October 12th in the second round of the State Football Tournament. The Bears were slated to host the game with Franklin Simpson, but poor field conditions at the high school forced them to forfeit the opportunity and had to travel to Franklin Simpson instead.

Coach Elijah Flener and the rest of the coaching staff had the Bears well prepared for the Wildcats of Franklin Simpson.  The Bear's defense was stellar.  They held the Wildcats scoreless with several key tackles by Walker Inglis, Solomon Flener, William Jones, and numerous other Bear defenders.  The Wildcat's defense was strong as well, but a botched punt by the Wildcats left the Bears with a short field where two plays later Jagger Henderson was able to score on a 25-yard scramble  The two-point conversion was also good with Walker Inglis punching it in with 6:47 left in the second quarter.  Two strong stands by the Bears defense at the end of the half kept the Wildcats from scoring. The Bears were unable to score in the second half, but they had what it took to pull out the win 8-0.

With an impressive win over Franklin Simpson, the Bears advance to the regional finals of State.  They will play on Saturday, October 21st at 11 AM at Warren Central.  They will face a tough TK Stone team.  Come out and support the team.
