BCMS Collects 3,604 Food Items for Morgantown Mission

An intense competition of can and food collection at Butler County Middle School resulted in a total of 3,604 items donated by students over a two-week period.  The items – cans and other non-perishable products – were donated to the Morgantown Mission during a brief recognition ceremony last week at the school.Mission Director Gary McKinney was on hand to accept the items, which will be placed in the Mission’s pantry to assist local families in need.

BCMS Principal Jeff Jennings, YSC Director Karla Coles, and Mission Director Garry McKinney.

The donation drive was coordinated by the BCMS Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) and the Butler County Youth Services Center.

Leading the way in the donation drive for food items was Mr. Cody Donaldson’s homeroom with 837 items; second place was Mrs. Paige McKinney’s homeroom with 523 items; and Mrs. Patti Bucklew’s homeroom with 507 items.  Each homeroom will be rewarded with a school party of their choosing.

Over 3,604 items were donated by students.

“STLP and the YSC did a great job organizing this donation drive and our students and teachers worked hard at bringing in items and helping a worthy cause in our community,” said BCMS Principal Jeff Jennings.
