BCMS Boys Basketball on the Road

BCMS boys basketball had a tough week with two road games, leaving the 8th grade team with two losses on their record.  On Tuesday night, the Bears traveled to Edmonson County to face the Wildcats.  The Bears came out on top the last two times these teams met, but only by 3 points.   Such was not the case Tuesday Night.  Even with the valiant effort of Bailey Anderson, who was the Bears high point man, contributing 17 of the Bears 39 points and being 7 of 9 from the free throw line.  It just wasn’t enough.  The Wildcats, along with a few tough calls, overcame the Bears with a score of 48-39.

BCMS Bears 7th grade team came away from Edmonson County with about the same story as the 8th grade team.  The 7th grade team couldn’t find the basket to score in the first half.  Skyler Moore did connect for two 3’s to give the Bears 6 of their 8 first half points.  The Bears did turn up the scoring heat somewhat in the second half, but it was too little too late.  The Bears lost this one 53- 37.  Caleb Beasley scored 11, Gage Ward 10, Brennan Grubb 8, Skyler Moore 6, and Patton Allen 2.

Thursday night the BCMS Bears went to Russellville to play a talented Panthers team.  Bailey Anderson continued with his hot streak and scored 15 for the Bears, but some early foul trouble and shooting difficulties for the Bears gave the Panthers the edge.  The Bears dropped this one 49 – 36.  Also scoring for the Bears was Blake Graham 7, Kyle Casey 5, Ty Burden 4, Kaleb Casey 3, and Chandler Franzell 2.

The 7th grade game was a different story.  For the first time all season, the Bears seemed comfortable and played some run and gun basketball.  The Bears stepped up their effort on the defensive end with some full court pressure leading to several Panther turnovers.  Brennan Grubb came up with several steals on the night and led the Bears in scoring with 18 points.  Skyler Moore also got in double digits with 11.  Also scoring for the Bears was Gage Ward 5, Andrew Henry 4, Caleb Beasley 2, and Neil Bewley 1.  The 7th grade team picked up the win with a score of 43-33.
The Bears will face Russellville again this Thursday night on their home court at 5:30.
