The 2021-2022 Butler County Middle School Boys Basketball seasons are underway and in full swing. This year’s 8th grade team members include Curtis Murphy, Memphis Basham, Elijah Ferrell, Will Amos, Chance Flener, Caleb Broesamle, Maddox Moore, Jett Johnson, Christian Johnson, and Nicolas Francisco. 6th and 7th grade team members consist of Cainan Vincent, Cooper Embry, Carson Davis, Tucker Hampton, Thomas Embry, Kaiden Richardson, Jayden Coomer, Wrangler Fugate, Drake Bratcher, and Felix Francisco.

The 8th grade Bears started their season off with a victory against Bowling Green Junior High School at their place, and they have since added victories against Muhlenberg North and Allen County. With games against Drakes Creek, College View, South Warren, and Warren East just to name a few, the Bears have definitely been battle tested early. The 8th grade will head into Christmas break with an overall record of 3-11 and 1-2 on their side of the GRVC and improving daily.

The 7th grade team has picked up early victories against Muhlenberg North, McLean County twice, and Allen County twice. These young Bears have also had several tough early matchups against Moss, Grayson County, and Bowling Green just to name a few. 7th goes into Christmas break with an overall record of 5-9 and 3-0 on their side of the GRVC. These young men are also getting better daily.

Both teams had games cancelled and rescheduled due to the tornadoes that affected our area before Christmas break. January will be a very busy month for the Bears as they have conference games against Muhlenberg North on January 13th, Muhlenberg South on January 11th and 27th, and Ohio County on January 6th and 24th. They will return back to action on January 3rd when Bowling Green comes to Morgantown. Reminder, all students who are eligible get in free for all home games. Come out and support your middle school Bears!
