BCMS Baseball: Week Two

BCMS  10   GCMS  6

Butler County Middle School baseball team defeated Grayson County Middle School 10-6 on Tuesday. BCMS took the lead, 3-2, at the bottom of the first, thanks to singles by Elijah Barrow and Brody West.

Grayson County Middle School took the lead in the top of the second inning after a single and a walk, each scoring one run.

BCMS  captured the lead, 6-4, in the bottom of the second when Barrow drew a walk, scoring one run, and Maddox Keown hit into a fielder's choice, but two runs scored.

 An error helped Grayson County Middle School tie the game at six in the top of the third.

In the bottom of the third, BCMS broke up the tie when an error scored three runs. Then a double by West followed to extend the lead to 10-6.

Levi Forbes earned the win, allowing four hits and six runs (three earned) over three innings, striking out eight and walking three. Colton LeBlanc collected the save.

J.T. Reid led the team with three runs batted in. West led BCMS with two hits in three at-bats. Evan Darsey led BCMS with three walks. 

 

BCMS  6   Grayson County Middle   3

A late lead gave Butler County Middle School a 6-3 victory over Grayson Co. in the night's second game. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the third when Colton LeBlanc doubled, scoring three runs.

In the bottom of the first inning, BCMS went back into the lead after Noah Cockerell singled up the middle, and Charlie McKinney walked, each scoring one run. BCMS  captured the lead, 6-3, in the bottom of the third when Maddox Keown grounded out, scoring one run, and LeBlanc doubled, scoring three runs.

Brody West earned the win, surrendering one hit and three runs (one earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking three. Maddox Keown threw one inning of scoreless ball for BCMS in relief. The reliever gave up zero hits, striking out three and walking two.

LeBlanc led the Bears with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-1 on the day. Cockerell led BCMS with two hits in two at-bats.

BCMS  1    Franklin-Simpson  13

Butler County Middle School fell to Franklin Simpson Middle School.

Colton LeBlanc began the game for BCMS. The pitcher allowed eight hits and 13 runs (five earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking six. 

Maddox Keown led BCMS with one hit in one at bat.

BCMS could not keep up with Franklin-Simpson 5-1 on Thursday.

Franklin-Simpson got on the board in the second inning, scoring one run.

Deacon Phelps singled, which helped the Bears tie the game at one in the top of the third.

Noah Cockerell opened the game for BCMS. The pitcher allowed two hits and one run (zero earned) over two innings, striking out three and walking two. Elijah Barrow took the loss for BCMS. The hurler went two-thirds of an inning, giving up four runs on two hits, striking out two and walking three. 

Phelps led BCMS with one run batted in. The catcher went 1-for-1 on the day. Barrow and Phelps each collected one hit.

After an error, Todd County Middle School Rebels got on the board in the top of the first inning.

Levi Forbes stepped on the hill first for BCMS. He gave up three hits and eight runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking two. 

Forbes and Colton LeBlanc each collected one hit for BCMS.

On Wednesday, the Beara were victorious in game two against Todd County Middle School 6-4.

BCMS jumped into the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Colton LeBlanc walked, and BCMS scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run.

BCMS scored 6-4 in the bottom of the third after an error scored two runs, and Maddox Keown grounded out, scoring one run.

Keown led things off on the bump for BCMS. The pitcher allowed one hit and four runs (two earned) over two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking six. Noah Cockerell threw one inning of no-run ball for  BEARS in relief. The pitcher surrendered zero hits, striking out one and walking one.

Evan Darsey and Keown each drove in one run. Keown led the Bears with one hit in two at-bats.
