BCHS Volleyball honors seniors

On Monday BCHS Lady Bears Volleyball Team traveled to Barren County for a F/JV/V match.  This was the last game of the season for the young freshman team and they ended on a positive note winning 21-11 in two straight sets.  This made the girls final record 4-2. This is the first winning season of any volleyball team at BCHS. Coaches are very happy with the progress the girls have made and look forward to what this team can do in the future.

This was Barren County’s “Senior Night”, so after the freshman game they honored four seniors then the varsity game was to follow.  Barren jumped out quickly and took control winning the first set 25-12. Butler had several unforced errors that cost them in the game.  Set two was just the opposite with the Lady Bears taking control and never letting up with a 25-12 victory. Set three was much closer, but Barren prevailed 25-18.  The varsity team also played in Metcalfe County’s tournament on Saturday. The Lady Bears were 1-3, beating Robertson and losing to Adair County, Laure County, and Campbellsville.

The JV team defeated Barren in the first set by a score of 21-12.  Set two saw Butler lose a lead and fall 22-20. Barren took the lead 12-6 in the last set, but Butler came back to tie it up at 12.  The Trojanettes rallied to score the next three points and win the game 15-12. Much like the varsity team, the Lady Bears had several unforced errors.

On Thursday night the Lady Bears hosted Todd County in the final regular season game of the 2018.  The JV team defeated Todd County in three sets 21-12, 16-21, and 21-12. Butler took control early in set one and never let up.  In the second set the Lady Rebels played well with good passing, sets, and kills. The third set was close until freshman, Carley Jones took over serving.  She served the last seven points, many were aces. The JV team finished the season 6-12. This is the best JV record that BCHS has ever had.

Following the JV game was the ceremony honoring five seniors (Left to right): Kim Banse, Brooklyn Martin, Haleigh Skaggs, Haley Shedd, and Hannah Whittinghill.

The seniors got Butler off to a strong straight as the Lady Bears jumped out to a 15-5 lead, but Todd County cut into the lead and made it close.  Butler won the first set 25-20. Set two saw the Lady Rebels jump out to a lead, 12-6, only to see the Lady Bears come roaring back to take control 24-18. The last point was the hardest one of the night, but the girls prevail to win in straight sets 28-26.
