Lady Bears blank Barren County, 2-0

MORGANTOWN - Returning to the win column following back-to-back losses, Butler County blanked visiting Barren County 2-0 in a high school volleyball match on Tuesday, Sept. 29. 

Homestanding Butler County took control early in the non-district high school volleyball match. Butler County won 25-13, 25-6.

With the win, Butler County improved to 6-4.

Barren County, a team from the neighboring 4th Region, dropped to 5-8 with the loss. 

Butler County dealt Barren County its fifth straight setback. 

Autumn Gidcumb (7 kills, 6 digs, 1 service ace), Delaina Flener (6 kills, 2 digs, 2 service aces), Kayla Green (3 kills), Cassidy Parker (2 kills, 3 digs), Abigail Dockery (1 kill, 9 digs), Lexa Johnson (1 kill, 1 block), Carley Jones (12 assists, 10 service aces), Alexis Burdin (8 assists), Grace Embry (1 dig, 1 service ace) and Johna Cox (1 block) contributed for Butler County in the victory. 

Lady Bears drop district match to Grayson County 

LEITCHFIELD - Visiting Butler County started strong but couldn't keep up its early pace as Grayson County won 3-1 (23-25, 25-15, 25-16, 25-11) in a 12th District volleyball match on Thursday, Oct. 1.

Among the top volleyball teams in the 3rd Region, Grayson County notched its 10th straight win.

With the loss, Butler County dropped to 6-5 overall and 1-4 in the 12th District. 

Grayson County improved to 12-1 overall and 4-0 in the district with the win. 

Ella Robinson (20 kills, 1 block, 1 assist, 19 digs, 1 service ace), Kenzie Skaggs (6 kills, 4 assists, 7 digs, 1 service ace), Chloe Cox (4 kills, 1 block, 1 assist, 7 digs, 3 service aces), Bailey Richardson (28 digs, 1 assist), Brieanna Boll (3 kills, 1 block, 30 assists, 7 digs), Allie Dotson (3 kills, 1 block, 1 assist, 2 digs), Lillie Payne (2 kills, 4 blocks, 1 dig, 4 service aces), Alexis Brown (12 digs) and Autumn Riggs (7 digs) contributed for Grayson County in the victory.

Both Butler County and Grayson County will compete in the 12th District Volleyball Tournament later in the month.
