BCHS Volleyball 8-4

On Saturday, September 8th, the JV played in a “pool play” tournament in Bowling Green on Saturday at Ephriam White Parks & Rec.  The Lady Bears played five games beating Warren East and Metcalfe County, and losing to Webster County, Allen County, and Paducah Tillman. Tillman advanced to the finals and was defeated by Bowling Green High.  Tuesday saw the JV squad pick up a hard fought win Over Caverna in three sets.   This was the second match up between the two teams this year, but there was very little difference in the games, Butler taking the match both times in three sets.  The varsity game also looked very similar to the first match up, with Caverna battling and forcing a third set.  The Lady Bears seemed to be a little for focused in the last set though and eased to a 25-11 victory.  The first two sets were much closer with Butler winning the first 25-21 and dropping the second 22-25. The New Q 101.5 broadcast the game live on Facebook and the radio.  This was the first volleyball game to be broadcast.  A BIG thanks goes out to Diane Dyer and Cody Donalson for the great job they did.

Thursday night the girls traveled to take on Edmonson County in a district match up.  The JV team got off to a great start building a quick 12-6 lead, only to see the Wildcats scratch their way back and defeat the Lady Bears in straight sets by scores of 22-20 and 21-10.  The JV team is now 5-10.  Although this is not a record that the ladies were hoping for it is an improvement from last year as the JV team won only once.

Edmonson celebrated their senior night between games, honoring four ladies for their efforts. After the sermon an excited crowd seemed to give the Wildcats a little extra push, but Butler held off Edmonson to win a close first set 26-24. The next two sets were a little easier for the Lady Bears, winning 25-18 and 25-21.  The win improved the girl’s record to 8-4, 2-3 in the district.  Next week the Lady Bears host Frederick Fraize on Tuesday, travel to Trinity on Thursday, and play in a “pool play” tournament at Metcalfe County on Saturday.
