*Due to illness, Hart County only had 3 boys available, so #4, #5, #6 singles and #2 & #3 doubles matches were all won by default.

The BCHS tennis teams hit the road for 2013 action on Monday March 4th, for a scrimmage at Greenwood.  Both teams came up a little short, with the girls falling 4-5 and the boys dropping a 3-6 decision.

Certainly things were the toughest for #1 Girls Singles (Katona Dockery) and the #1 Boys Doubles team of Matt Embry/Dakota Merrick.  Katona's opponent is ranked by coaches as one of the top ten high school girls in the state this year.  In the meantime, Embry/Merrick probably faced the best doubles team they will face, unless they make it to the state tournament.  Not all results were bad though.  The three girls singles victories were all very impressive, including #4 seed Emily Wallace, who staved off a late rally to hold on for a tough win at #4 singles.  In boys action, #1 Brennan Grubb lost at the #1 spot but along with his opponent, put on a very impressive showing, in the longest match of the evening.  At #2 singles, Matt Embry overcame an early 0-3 deficit, nearly shutting out his opponent from any games, for the rest of the match.  And at #4 singles, Dakota Merrick had a solid 8-4 win, despite losing a week of practice to injury.
