Butler County Tennis Teams headed back to Owensboro this past week to play Owensboro High School on Monday, March 24th.  The girl’s team played a nine point match with the girls getting the win with seven of the nine points.  Most matches were won easily with our girls only allowing their opponents a game here and there.  Katona Dockery got a tough come from behind win  at the second seed after losing the first set 2-6 and winning the second set 6 -3.  She showed true determination and grit to get the win in a tie break 10 – 7.  The boy’s team also came away with a win at Owensboro.  They played a five point match and won four out of their five matches.  Brennan Grubb, after popping the strings on his racket during warm ups, battled at the second seed to get a win after being on the court for almost 3 hours.  He won the first set 6-2 and tied the second set 6-6 then won the tie break 7-5.

The Bears traveled to Russellville later in the week for their final match before Spring Break.  Both teams played five point matches at Russellville due to approaching weather.  Each match proved to be challenging due to extremely windy conditions.  Every player had to adjust their game drastically just to keep the ball in play.  Both teams played some strategic matches and won in dominating fashion winning every match 5-0.  Both boy’s and girl’s teams are 7-1 on the season.

 The Tennis Team will be back in action after Spring Break.  They will travel to Muhlenberg County on Monday then come home for three more matches that week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.  Come out to the park and support the team.
