Supt. Scott Howard, Megan Cockrell, and Catron Burdette.

Butler County High School Junior Megan Cockrell, 17, was recognized by the Butler County Board of Education on Tuesday night.  Megan’s art work has received national recognition and will be part of a special art show in Washington, D.C. in November.

“We are very proud of Megan and are making plans for her to attend the showing in Washington,” said Superintendent Scott Howard.

“I enjoyed making this project, it was fun. The people in the picture are my G-ma, (Kathy Ruff) my sisters, Kionna and Tessla, and me. I wanted to make this look like a gameboard because we like being together and playing games,” said Megan.

“Megan’s work will be at one of two displays in Washington, the Martin Luther King Library or the Department of Education, with a special ceremony on November 19th,” added Catron Burdette, BCHS Art Teacher.
