BCHS Softball Honors Seniors; Bears notch several wins as season progresses

The Butler County Softball team honored their four seniors on Thursday night, May 4, prior to the Russellville game.  

 

#25 Avery Gleason is the daughter of Paula and Scott Gleason

 

#5 Carley Jones is the daughter of Tanda and Billy Jones

 

#23 Mackenzie Coleman is the daughter of Stephanie and Mac Coleman

 

#24 Cheani Schroeder is the daughter of Robin and Chad Johnson and Lynette and Scott Schroeder

 

Butler County 8     Owensboro 3

Butler County defeated Owensboro Lady Devils 8-3 on Friday.

The Bears scored in the first inning. Carley Jones singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Karrington Hunt, Tinslea Belcher, Madison Clark, and Addison Miller all drove in runs in the second inning.

Avery Gleason led things off on the rubber for Butler County. Gleason allowed ten hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking zero.

Butler County totaled 12 hits. Miller, Belcher, Mia Thomas, and Jones all had multiple hits. Belcher and Miller each managed three hits.

 

Butler County 9     Russellville 12

Butler County watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 12-9 loss to Russellville Panthers on Thursday. The Panthers scored on a single by A'miyah Collier and a double by J. Poindexter in the second inning.

The Bears collected 13 hits, and the Panthers had 17 in the high-scoring affair.

Russellville Panthers pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second, Collier singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run, and Poindexter doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Butler County notched three runs in the seventh inning. Butler County was led by Karrington Hunt and MacKenzie Coleman, who had RBIs in the inning.

Russellville scored five runs in the third inning, driven by home runs by Reese Croslin and Collier and a double by Bell.

Avery Gleason took the loss for Butler County, surrendering 12 runs on 17 hits over seven innings, striking out three.

Butler County had 13 hits in the game. Parker Willoughby, Hunt, Madison Clark, and Carley Jones collected multiple hits. Hunt and Willoughby each managed three hits. 

 
Butler County  6     Allen County-Scottsville 5
 
 Butler County got a four-run lead in the sixth inning and held on for a 6-5 victory over Allen County-Scottsville on Monday. The Patriots scored three runs on a home run in the seventh inning.

The Bears pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third, Parker Willoughby doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run, and Madison Clark singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Butler County tallied three runs in the fourth inning. Avery Gleason, Willoughby, and Karrington Hunt moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Gleason was the winning pitcher for Butler County Varsity Bears Softball. The righthander lasted seven innings, allowing nine hits and five runs while striking out five.

Butler County tallied 11 hits on the day. Willoughby, Clark, Gleason, and Carley Jones each racked up multiple hits. Jones, Gleason, Clark, and Willoughby each collected two hits to lead the Bears.

 

Butler County 10     Trinty 2

Butler County coasted to an easy victory over Trinity 10-2 on Friday.

Butler County got on the board in the first inning when Madison Clark reached on a dropped third strike.

Avery Gleason was the winning pitcher for Butler County. She surrendered two runs on seven hits over seven innings, striking out two and walking zero.

 

 Butler County tallied one home run on the day. Clark put one out in the fifth inning.

Butler County racked up ten hits in the game. Carley Jones, Clark, and Parker Willoughby all had multiple hits. Willoughby, Clark, and Jones all had two hits to lead Butler County.

 

 Butler County 3     Greenwood 1

Butler County defeated Greenwood 3-1. Avery Gleason allowed just eight hits to Greenwood. She allowed eight hits and one run over seven innings, striking out four and walking one.
 
Greenwood surrendered three runs on five hits over seven innings, striking out 12.
 
Butler County launched three home runs on the day. Willoughby had a homer in the first inning. MacKenzie Coleman had a four-bagger in the seventh inning. Madison Clark had a long ball in the sixth inning.
 
Tinslea Belcher, Coleman, Karrington Hunt, Clark, and Willoughby each collected one hit. 
 
 
Butler County 0     Edmonson County 12

Butler County needed help generating runs on Tuesday, dropping their game with Edmonson County  12-0.
 
One bright spot for the Bears was a single by Parker Willoughby in the first inning.
 
Julie Norris earned the win for Edmonson County. She surrendered zero runs on two hits over five innings, striking out three.
 
Tinslea Belcher took the loss for Butler County. She went four and third innings, allowing 12 runs on nine hits and striking out six.
 
The Ladycats hit two home runs on the day. Addie Childress had a long ball in the fifth inning. Brooklyn Wilson went deep in the second inning.
 
Mia Thomas and Willoughby each collected one hit to lead Butler County. 
 
 
Butler County 13     Hancock County 9

Butler County took the lead late in the game in a 13-9 victory over Hancock County. The  Bears trailed 9-8 in the top of the fifth inning when Madison Clark homered on a 2-1 count, scoring three runs.
 
Addison Miller led Butler County to victory by driving in seven runs. Miller went 3-for-3 at the plate. Miller drove in runs on a double in the second, a home run in the fifth, and a home run in the sixth.
 
Hancock County started things in the first inning when an error scored two runs.
 
In the top of the second inning, Butler County Varsity Bears Softball tied things up at two when Miller doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.
 
Avery Gleason got the win for Butler County Varsity Bears Softball. Gleason allowed eight hits and nine runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking one.
 
Butler County  launched three home runs on the day. Miller went yard in the fifth and sixth innings. Clark had a long ball in the fifth inning.
 
Butler County totaled 14 hits. Clark, Miller, Karrington Hunt, Carley Jones, and Tinslea Belcher all had multiple hits. Miller and Clark all had three hits to lead their team.
 
 
Butler County 9     Calloway County 8

The game was tied at eight with Butler County batting in the bottom of the fifth when Parker Willoughby's sac fly scored one run giving Butler County the 9-8 win.
 
Butler County earned the victory despite allowing Calloway County to score eight runs in the first inning.
 
Avery Gleason was credited with the victory for Butler County. Gleason allowed six hits and eight runs over five innings, striking out three and walking zero.
 
Butler County racked up 11 hits on the day. Gleason, MacKenzie Coleman, Willoughby, and Cheani Schroeder each managed multiple hits for the Bears. Gleason led Butler County Varsity Bears with three hits in three at-bats.
 
 
Butler County  0     Henderson County 5

Butler County fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 5-0 loss to Henderson County. 
 
Henderson County got things moving in the first inning. Hallie McCracken drove in one when McCracken singled.
 
Anna Kemp led things off in the circle for the Lady Colonels. She allowed zero hits and runs over five innings, striking out ten.
 
Butler County pitcher Tinslea Belcher surrendered five runs on eight hits over five innings, striking out four and walking zero.
 
Taylor Troutman went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Henderson County in hits. 
 
 
Butler County  4      Muhlenberg  1
 
Butler County defeated Muhlenberg County 4-1. The Bears got on the board in the first inning. Cheani Schroeder drew a walk, scoring one run.
 
Avery Gleason got the start for Butler County. The right-hander allowed four hits and one run over six innings, striking out four and walking one.
 
Madison Clark led Butler County Varsity Bears with two hits in three at-bats.
 
 
 Butler County  12     Logan County 10

Butler County built an eight-run lead in the fifth inning and held off Logan County's charge for a 12-10 victory.
 
Logan County scored three runs in the failed comeback on a home run by Shayla Johnson in the sixth, an error in the seventh, and a single by Nora Epley in the seventh.
 
 
Karrington Hunt led the Bears to victory by driving in four runs. Hunt went 2-for-4 at the plate. Hunt drove in runs on a grand slam in the first.
 
Butler County pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third, an error scored one run, Cheani Schroeder drew a walk, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs for Butler County.
 
Butler County scored four runs in the fifth inning, with Madison Clark and Mia Thomas knocking in runs.
 
Logan County scored five runs in the seventh inning.
 
Avery Gleason took the win for Butler County. She surrendered ten runs on 13 hits over seven innings, striking out five and walking zero.
 
Butler County racked up 14 hits on the day. MacKenzie Coleman, Parker Willoughby, Clark, Hunt, and Schroeder each had multiple hits. Coleman led Butler County Varsity Bears with three hits in three at-bats.
