BCHS Softball: Butler County claims district win over Grayson County

MORGANTOWN — Butler County pushed past Grayson County 17-13 in a 12th District game on Tuesday, March 26.

Following the win, Butler County improved to 1-5 overall and opened 1-0 in the 12th District. 

Butler County pitcher Miley Franzell earned the win in the circle. Franzell pitched a complete game and recorded one strikeout. 

Butler County scored 17 runs on 13 hits. Madison Clark led Butler County offensively, finishing four-for-five with a home run, two doubles and seven RBIs. 

In addition to Clark, Butler County's offensive attack featured Franzell (two hits), Parker Willoughby (three hits, three RBIs), Taylor Smith (two hits,home run three RBIs), Addison Miller (one hit, two RBIs) and Carley Cardwell (one hit, one RBI).

The Bears are scheduled to visit Grayson County for another 12th District game on Thursday, April 18. 

 

 

Butler County falls to Warren East 

 

BOWLING GREEN — Butler County slipped back into the loss column as Warren East pulled away to win 14-7 on Friday, March 29.

Following the loss, Butler County dropped to 1-6.

Longtime rivals, Butler County and Warren East met for a non-district game. 

Warren East scored first and never trailed. Excelling late in the non-district matchup, Warren East plated nine runs over its last two at-bats to claim the victory. 

Butler County pitcher Miley Franzell suffered the loss in the circle. Franzell pitched a complete game, recording one strikeout. 

Butler County scored seven runs on eight hits. Franzell (two hits), Parker Willoughby (two hits), Madison Clark (one hit, two RBIs), Taylor Smith (one hit, two RBIs), Jenna Tomes (one hit, two RBIs), Mia Thomas (one RBI) and Karrington Hunt (one hit) each produced at the plate for Butler County during the early-season contest. 

Butler County is scheduled to host Warren East for another game on Saturday, April 13.
