BCHS Softball: Bears outlast Ohio County 3-2

 MORGANGTOWN — Butler County outlasted Ohio County 3-2 on Monday, April 15. 

After notching the win, Butler County improved to 2-10. 

The Bears plated the game-winning run in the bottom half of the fifth inning. 

Miley Franzell pitched a complete game for Butler County and claimed the win in the circle. Franzell limited Ohio County to two runs on six hits. The Butler County pitcher struck out one Ohio County batter. 

Butler County scored three runs on eight hits. Franzell (two hits, two RBIs), Addison Miller (two hits), Karrington Hunt (one hit, one RBI), Parker Willoughby (one hit), Madison Clark (one hit), and Taylor Smith (one hit) delivered at the plate in Butler County's victory. Franzell, Hunt, Willoughby and Clark each doubled. 

Butler County is scheduled to visit Whitesville Trinity for a 12th District softball game at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16. 

 

Bears suffer loss to Warren East 

MORGANTOWN — Butler County couldn't overcome an early deficit as Warren East pulled away to win 16-7 on Saturday, April 13. 

Warren East scored first, erupting for nine runs in the top half of the second inning.

Butler County plated four runs in the bottom half of the third inning but couldn't get any closer. 

Karrington Hunt started in the circle for Butler County and took the loss. 

In addition to Hunt, Mia Thomas and Miley Franzell pitched for the Bears. 

The Bears lost despite outhitting Warren East 13-10. Hunt (two hits, two RBIs), Thomas (one hit, one RBI), Franzell (three hits, one RBI), Parker Willoughby (three hits), Carley Cardwell (two hits), Jenna Tomes (one hit) and Addison Miller (one hit) each produced at the plate for Butler County during the matchup. Supplying an extra-base hit for Butler County, Hunt doubled. 

Butler County is scheduled to host Ohio County for its next game on Monday, April 15. First pitch for the Butler County-Ohio County game is set for 5:30 p.m. 

 

Logan County 10, Butler County 1: Butler County was limited offensively as Logan County pulled away to win 10-1 on Friday, April 12. 

Miley Franzell pitched for Butler County and absorbed the loss in the circle. 

Butler County plated one run on eight hits. Offensively for Butler County, Parker Willoughby (three hits, one RBI), Madison Clark (two hits, one RBI), Karrington Hunt (two hits) and Addison Miller (one hit) each chipped in at the plate. 

 

Butler County falls to Barren County 

GLASGOW — Butler County couldn't battle back from behind as Barren County pulled away to win 16-6 in five innings on Monday, April 8. 

Following the loss, Butler County dropped to 1-8. 

Barren County scored 10 runs over its last three at-bats to pull away for the win.

Miley Franzell pitched a complete game for Butler County and suffered the loss in the circle. Franzell struck out two Barren County batters. 

Butler County scored six runs on seven hits. Franzell (one hit), Karrington Hunt (two hits, one RBI), Mia Thomas (two hits), Madison Clark (one hit, three RBIs) and Taylor Smith (one hit, two RBIs) each contributed offensively for the Bears.
