Butler County defeats Logan County 

MORGANTOWN — Butler County defeated Logan County 10-7 in a late-season high school softball game on Tuesday, May 13.
The Bears improved to 9-22 after registering the win. 
Butler County scored seven runs over its last two at-bats to secure the victory. 
Miley Franzell pitched a complete game for Butler County and earned the win in the circle. Franzell struck out one Logan County batter.  
Butler County scored 10 runs on 14 hits. Players throughout Butler County's lineup contributed at the plate. Franzell (three hits, one RBI), Madison Jones (three hits, three RBIs), Emmalin Mode (two hits, two RBIs), Karrington Hunt (two hits), Callyn Smith (two hits), Lydia Brown (one hit, one RBI) and Kaylee Dreise (one hit) each produced offensively for the Bears. Showing speed on the basepaths, Mode legged out a triple. 
A Butler County-Greenwood softball game scheduled for Friday, May 16 was canceled. 
Butler County will compete in the 12th District Softball Tournament at Trinity Monday,against Edmonson County.. 
 
 
 
 
 
Butler County doubles up Whitesville Trinity for district win

WHITESVILLE — Butler County doubled up host Whitesville Trinity 6-3 in a 12th District softball game on Tuesday, May 6.

After registering the win, Butler County improved to 8-19 overall and 2-3 in the 12th District. 

The Bears outscored Whitesville Trinity 4-1 in the seventh inning to claim the district win. 

Miley Franzell pitched a complete game for Butler County and earned the win in the circle. Franzell recorded seven strikeouts. 

Butler County scored six runs on 10 hits. Butler County's offensive attack featured Franzell (two hits, one RBI), Karrington Hunt (two hits, two RBIs), Madison Jones (two hits, two RBIs), Callyn Smith (two hits, one RBI), Emmalin Mode (one hit) and Taylor Smith (one hit). 

Jones doubled twice in the Bears' victory. 

Helping her pitching cause at the plate, Franzell doubled once.

Butler County drops home game to Allen County-Scottsville

MORGANTOWN — Allen County-Scottsville prevented Butler County from returning to the win column, pulling away to beat the Bears 12-4 on Thursday, May 1.

Butler County dropped to 7-18 after suffering the loss. 

Allen County-Scottsville scored 10 runs over the last five innings on the way to registering the win.

Miley Franzell started in the circle for Butler County and took the loss. Franzell pitched three innings and recorded two strikeouts.

Following Franzell, Callyn Smith and Shelby McDaniel each pitched two innings in relief for the Bears.

Butler County plated four runs on 11 hits. Smith (three hits, one RBI), Karrington Hunt (two hits, two RBIs), Taylor Smith (two hits), Emmalin Mode (one hit, one RBI), Jenna Tomes (one hit), Raylynn Nicewinter (one hit) and Lydia Brown (one hit) each produced offensively for Butler County during the matchup. Both Hunt and Taylor Smith doubled for the Bears.

Butler County drops district game to Whitesville Trinity 

MORGANTOWN — Butler County couldn't battle back from behind as Whitesville Trinity won 8-3 in a 12th District softball game on Tuesday, April 29.  

Following the loss, Butler County dropped to 7-17 overall and 1-3 in the 12th District. 

Callyn Smith pitched two innings in relief for Butler County and suffered the loss in the circle. 

Miley Franzell started in the circle for Butler County and pitched five innings.

Smith and Franzell each pitched two innings for the Bears. 

Butler County scored three runs on seven hits. Smith (two hits, one RBI), Franzell (two hits), Lydia Brown (one hit, one RBI), Karrington Hunt (one hit) and Madison Jones (one hit) accounted for Butler County's offense. Both Franzell and Jones doubled for the Bears. 

Butler County is scheduled to visit Allen County-Scottsville for its next game at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 1.

Glasgow 4, Butler County 2: 

Butler County came up short as Glasgow prevailed 4-2 on Monday, April 28. 

Miley Franzell pitched a complete game for Butler County and took the loss in the circle. Franzell recorded three strikeouts. 

Visiting Butler County plated two runs on five hits. Emmalin Mode (one hit, one RBI), Taylor Smith (one hit), Lydia Brown (one hit), Karrington Hunt (one hit) and Carley Cardwell (one hit) each produced offensively for Butler County during the matchup. Both Brown and Hunt doubled while Cardwell tripled. 

 

Butler County knocks off Breckinridge County 

HARNED — Butler County beat 3rd Region rival Breckinridge County 8-2 on Thursday, April 24. 

With the win, Butler County improved to 7-15.

The Bears scored first and never trailed. Butler County led 6-0 before Breckinridge County plated its first run in the bottom half of the fourth inning. 

Callyn Smith pitched a complete game for Butler County and earned the win in the circle. Smith limited Breckinridge County to two runs on four hits and recorded nine strikeouts. 

Butler County scored eight runs on nine hits. Taylor Smith (one hit), Callyn Smith (two hits, one RBI), Jenna Tomes (two hits, four RBIs), Miley Franzell (two hits), Kaylee Dreise (one hit, two RBIs), Karrington Hunt (one hit) and Emmalin Mode (one RBI) each produced offensively for the Bears. Showing speed on the basepaths, Tomes legged out a triple. 

The Bears defeated Breckinridge County for the second time in the 2025 high school softball season. 

Butler County is scheduled to visit Glasgow for its next game on Monday, April 28.
