Butler County notches win over Ohio County
HARTFORD — Working its way back into the win column, Butler County pulled away to defeat Ohio County 8-1 on Monday, April 21.
Miley Franzell pitched a complete game for Butler County and earned the win in the circle. Franzell excelled throughout her pitching outing, limiting Ohio County to one run on two hits while recording two strikeouts.
The Bears thrived offensively and defensively. Karrington Hunt homered to left field, scoring three runs; Maddie Jones doubled, scoring two runs; Carly Cardwell doubled, scoring one run; and Taylor Smith singled, scoring two runs.
Butler County collected 12 hits in the game. Hunt led the Bears with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Callyn Smith led her team with three hits in four at-bats. Smith and Franzell each collected multiple hits for Butler County Varsity Bears.
Butler Co. 2 Central Hardin 14
Central Hardin got on the board at the bottom of the first inning as they jumped to a 9-0 lead.

Carly Cardwell led the Bears with one run batted in. Emmalin Mode, Maddie Jones, and Karrington Hunt each collected one hit.

Butler County got on the board in the first inning after Jenna Tomes singled, scoring one run.
Ava Carver lined into a double play, which helped Muhlenberg County Varsity Lady Mustangs tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.
Callyn Smith took the loss for Butler County. The hurler went four innings, giving up 11 runs (six earned) on 14 hits, striking out one and walking three.
Butler County collected 10 hits in the game. Miley Franzell set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading the Bears with three hits in three at-bats. Tomes went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one batted-in run. Maddie Jones and Smith each collected multiple hits for Butler County. The Bears turned one double play in the game.

Saturday's game against Logan County was a heartbreaker for Butler County, as they lost the lead late in an 8-7 defeat. The game was tied at seven in the top of the eighth when Brenley Adler hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
Maddie Jones collected three hits in four at-bats in the loss. Jones tripled in the fourth inning, tripled in the second inning, and singled in the sixth inning.
Carly Cardwell singled to center field, which helped Butler County tie the game at one in the bottom of the second.
The Bears captured the lead, 4-2, in the bottom of the fourth when Taylor Smith singled, scoring one run, and Jones tripled, scoring two runs.
Emmalin Mode singled to right field, which helped the Bears tie the game at seven in the bottom of the seventh.

The starting pitcher allowed 12 hits and seven runs (six earned) over six innings, striking out one and walking three.

The Bears couldn't keep up with the LadyCats and fell 15-0 on Friday.

Butler County edges Glasgow 7-6
MORGANTOWN — Butler County edged visiting Glasgow 7-6 on Tuesday, April 15.
Familiar rivals Butler Cunty and Glasgow swapped leads during the game. With the matchup tied 6-6, Butler County scored the game-winning run in the bottom half of the sixth inning
Callyn Smith pitched three innings in relief for Butler County and earned the win. Smith posted two strikeouts.
Miley Franzell started in the circle for Butler County and pitched the first four innings. Franzell recorded three strikeouts.
Butler County scored seven runs on seven hits. Smith led Butler County at the plate, finishing three-for-four with three RBIs.
Following Smith, Franzell, Karrington Hunt, Emmalin Mode and Madison Jones provided one hit apiece for the Bears. Hunt supplied two RBIs while Franzell drove in one run. Delivering an extra-base hit, Hunt tripled.
Butler County defeats Breckinridge County for first win
MORGANTOWN — Butler County pulled away to defeat Breckinridge County 16-1 in three innings on Monday, March 24.
Productive Butler County, under the direction of Coach Amy Rogers, registered its first win in the 2025 high school softball season.
Butler County scored first, plating two runs in the opening inning. Then, after Breckinridge County crossed home plate once, Butler County pushed across seven runs in back-to-back at-bats to claim the victory.
Miley Franzell pitched for Butler County and claimed the win in the circle. Franzell held Breckinridge County to one run on one hit and recorded two strikeouts.
Butler County scored 16 runs on 12 hits. Franzell (two hits), Carley Cardwell (three hits, three RBIs), Callyn Smith (two hits, three RBIs), Karrington Hunt (two hits, one RBI), Jenna Tomes (one hit, two RBIs), Taylor Smith (one hit, two RBIs) and Emmalin Mode (one hit, one RBI) each produced offensively for Butler Couty in its convincing victory.
