BCHS Playschool Graduation

On Friday, parents and children from around the county gathered at the Butler County High School Auditorium for the 40th Annual Playschool Graduation.  55 students, some there for the first time, others there for their fourth year, lined the front rows of the auditorium.  The program started at 9:00 with opening statements from student teachers.  All former Playschool students were then recognized.  Following the opening ceremonies, the students were called one by one to receive their diplomas from BCHS Principal Patrick O’Driscoll. After all the students received their diplomas, a closing statement was given by BCHS student Rachel Johnson.

The Playschool program was started 40 years ago by Cecilia Burden.  Since Mrs. Burden could not attend the ceremony, her son John Burden, spoke in honor of her.  Mr. Burden then presented the Playschool Program coordinator Mrs. Kimberlea Embry with flowers, honoring her for 20 years as head of the program.

Following the ceremony was a gathering in the Commons Area of the High School for refreshments and pictures.  Mrs. Embry and the student teachers would like to thank all parents and children involved in the Playschool this year.
