BCHS Playschool Class of 2012 Graduation

The Butler County High School child development classes hosted their 39th Playschool Graduation ceremony on Tuesday, May 8th in the BCHS Auditorium. Over 60 playschoolers made the trip across the stage to receive their graduation certificates in front of their families and playschool teachers. Some of the children were hesitant to cross the stage while others skipped or even ran across the stage.

After the playschoolers marched in to the auditorium, BCHS student Natoshia White welcomed all of those in attendance. Morgan Manning and Lydia Murphy then spoke about their most memorable moments as playschool teachers during the spring semester.

"I cannot believe that the four weeks that we got to spend with these great kids is already over" said Manning, "I will never forget the memories I made at playschool this year and I'm sure that these kids will never forget the memories that they made."

Before the playschoolers crossed the stage, the BCHS Choir, under the direction of Darryl Dockery, performed two songs for them. Felicia Hale and Brittany Bingham also recognized members of the crowd. Each playschooler got their opportunity to cross the stage when Mrs. Paula Clark called their name. Vice Principal Mike Gruber awaited each graduate with their certificate in hand.

Children entering kindergarten in the fall were also recognized during the ceremony by Hallie Jo Waddle and Katona Dockery. Each future kindergartner was presented with a composition notebook and a pencil.

Cassie Bratcher ended the ceremony with a farewell address saying, "This has been an unforgettable and rewarding experience. I hope this was as fun and enjoyable for the children as it was for all of us."

After the ceremony, cake and punch were available in the commons area for the graduates to celebrate with their fellow playschool friends and families.

Kimberlea Embry, family and consumer sciences teacher, said, "I am very proud of my students and the children, it's been so much fun. This has been the largest playschool that we have ever had with 66 students. I think the kids have had a really good time. It's been a good experience all around."
