BCHS Playschool 2013

Butler County High School is wrapping up another successful year of Playschool.  The Butler County High School Playschool Program began in 1973 under the direction of Mrs. Cilicia Burden.  That year, 10 preschoolers and 12 teachers were a part of the program.  This year, 55 children attended Playschool with 55 BCHS students serving as Playschool teachers.

The goal of Playschool is for young children to learn basic skills they will need when they begin school.  Students learn things such as sharing, bus safety, and healthy eating.  Since Playschool is sponsored by the Child Development classes at the High School, those BCHS students are required to teach lessons to the kids.  A normal day of Playschool consists of play time, a learning activity, followed by lunch and refreshments.  Playschool has been a big part of Butler County for over 40 years.  Over 1,800 children have been enrolled in the program.

The 40th Annual Playschool graduation will be held on Friday, May 10th at 9:00 a.m. in the Martin Auditorium in the High School.  Parents of all the enrolled children are encouraged to come watch their child receive his or her diploma.
