BCHS Lady Bears Soccer Team Has A New Coach

As the 2013 girls soccer season kicks off, they will be coached by a new, but familiar face. Last year the team was coached by Shilo Ringl, but this season Patrick O’Driscoll is the head coach. With a total of 20 girls on the high school team, depth is not an issue for this coach. He has 6 seniors, 2 juniors, 4 sophomores, and 8 freshmen to make up a varsity squad.

The 6 seniors, Emily Hunt, Sydney Wilson, Caitlynn Price, Cayli Bevil, Joanne Beatty, and Sadie Daniels, will be the main ones that Coach will call on. These girls will have some quality playing time on the team, but will need the help from some of the younger players to help them out.

Helping the seniors out will be 2 juniors, Krystin Johnson and Michele Cardwell. These girls, along with the seniors, will more than likely see some adequate time on the field as well.

Having a small number of upperclassmen this season, Coach O’Driscoll will be calling on some of these underclassmen to step up and fill some spots. The 4 sophomores that will be helping out are Heather Cardwell, Kaylee Saltsman, Emily Coy, and Krystin Hardin. These girls will not have any problems helping out their fellow teammates.

Rounding out the team are the 8 freshmen. Some of these girls might have to play some minutes in a varsity game to help out the team along with the sophomores. The 8 freshmen girls’ names are Ashley Phelps, Sahara Johnson, Adrienne White, Hannah Garner, Emily Johnson, Melinna Hatcher, Shawanna Hunt, and Melissa Caruthers.

The Lady Bears’ season has kicked off, but not to the standards some of these girls would have liked. They lost their first game last week to a strong Muhlenberg County team. They played again on Monday and lost to South Warren. The girls are looking for a win Thursday as they travel to Logan County.
