BCHS graduate West earns academic honor

CAMPBELLSVILLE - The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) announced the 2018 Division I Women's Basketball Scholar-Athletes and Campbellsville University has six Lady Tigers named to the list. Among the Campbellsville University women's basketball players named to the list was a Butler County High School graduate. 
Madison Clements, Madison Kaiser and Madison Stewart earned NCCAA Scholar-Athlete honors from the varsity program, while Kayla Bale, Shawna West and Montana Woosley earned honors from the JV team. West is a Butler County High School graduate who hails from Morgantown. She is a junior guard.
In order to be nominated by an institution's sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status. Players from throughout the nation received the honor. 
West led the Butler County High School girls' basketball team in scoring during her senior season, which was the 2014-15 campaign. The productive West averaged 10 points per game as a senior guard. She was the only Lady Bear to average double figures in the scoring column during the 2014-15 season.
