BCHS Football PRESEASON Preview 2026

7-on-7 Event Highlights Busy Week for Bears

The Butler County Bears will officially begin their 2026 preseason football preparations on Monday, July 13, as players report for daily summer workouts beginning at 4:00 p.m. at BCHS. The workouts mark the start of an important stretch leading into preseason practice as the Bears continue building toward the 2026 season.

Fans will also have an opportunity to watch the Bears in action on Thursday, July 16, when Butler County hosts Hancock County in a summer 7-on-7 Passing League event on the BCHS Football Game Field. Activities are expected to begin at approximately 6:00 p.m., with the event format to be announced.

While the event resembles a football game, 7-on-7 competition is designed strictly to develop the passing game. Players compete wearing helmets, shirts, and shorts only, with no full-contact blocking or tackling. The emphasis is on quarterbacks and receivers developing timing, rhythm, communication, and execution through repeated passing situations.

The event is equally valuable for the Bears' defense. Defensive backs and linebackers gain repetitions reading offensive formations, improving pass coverage techniques, refining communication, and reacting to game-like situations. This summer passing league sessions provide an excellent opportunity for both the offense and defense to sharpen their skills before full-contact practices begin later in the month.

For the coaching staff, the objective is simple repetition. Every snap allows players to become more comfortable within the offensive and defensive systems while building confidence and chemistry with their teammates. The more repetitions players receive during the summer, the better prepared they will be when preseason practice intensifies.

Thursday night's 7-on-7 event offers fans an early glimpse of the 2026 Bears as they continue laying the foundation for the upcoming season. While the scoreboard is secondary, the experience gained through these summer workouts and passing league competitions is an important step in preparing for Friday nights this fall.
