BCHS Cross-Country Teams Travel to Barren County

The Butler County Cross-country team traveled to Glasgow on Thursday, September 29, to compete in the Barren County High School All-comers Varsity Meet.

The meet was comprised of five different schools in the area that boasted some stiff competition.

The Butler County Varsity Girls’ team was led by Olivia Neighbors who finished 7th overall with a time of 22:20, beating her pervious record for this year by over one minute. Maranda Pierson was the 11th finisher overall with a time of 22:46 and Kierra Neighbors crossed the line 12th overall with a time of 22:57. Also finishing in the Top 20 for Butler County was Chanda Hampton who finished 17th overall with a time of 24:05 and Delaney Embry who finished 20th with a time of 24:32.
Top 20- Dylan Havens, Ethan Jenkins, Kenneth Johnson
The Boys’ Varsity team was led by Ethan Jenkins who finished the race with a time of 19:03. Dylan Havens finished 12th overall with a time of 19:23 and Kenneth Johnson finished 13th overall with a time of 19:26.

“This meet was a great chance to compete against regional opponents and to see where we need to improve for post-season competition. We had three boys in the 19:00’s and three girls in the 22:00’s which is impressive.  I am so proud of these athletes and their dedication to their sport”, states Head Coach Kaitlin Harrison.

Both teams finished 3rd overall in team standings. The cross-country team will be back in action on Saturday October 8th at the Mustang Run in Greenville. Good luck to these athletes!
