The Butler County High School and Butler County Middle School Cheerleaders competed in the Snowball Cheer Classic Competition on Saturday at Bowling Green High.  Both squads took first place in their respective division and the BCHS squad was named Grand Champions.

“We won the large squad division and took home the grand champion trophy over all cheer squads,” said Lisa Rhoades, Head Cheer Coach. 

The BCHS squad consists of 19 cheerleaders. With only one senior, Laura Baseheart, the future looks bright.  Captains are Basehart and Bailey Hunt, co-captains are Sarah Johnson and Rebecca Daugherty.  Shelby Baseheart and Whitney Vincent are assistant coaches.

Members of the squad are: Molly Sanders, Caitlin Coleman, Hannah Gruber, Callie Dockery, Kourtney Barbier, Haley Hope, Bethany Rice, Erica Daugherty, Hayden Johnson, Miranda Maxfield, Hannah Renfrow, Kendra Dockery, Macy West, Rebecca Daugherty, Bailey Hunt, Laura Baseheart, Sarah Johnson, Aspen Arnold and Shelby Palmer.

“I could not ask for a better group of young adults.  Thanks to all the parents for their support,” said Rhoades.

The BCMS cheerleaders also took first place in the middle school division.  According to Head Cheer Coach Amy Smith-Thomas the BCMS squad also made history on Saturday by being undefeated for six consecutive years at surrounding competitions. 

The BCMS squad is preparing for state competition which will be held at Eastern Kentucky University on Saturday, January 11, 2014.

“I am very proud of this group of young ladies.  Their hard work and dedication is unmatched.  A big thank you to all the parents and school for their support,” said Amy Smith-Thomas.

BCMS squad members are: Brinkley Hunt, Brooklynn Henderson, Candice King, Chaney Brooks, Emily Tyree, Hailley Daniel, Hallie Sanders, Jessica Arnold, Kaleigh Proctor, Kaylee VanMeter, Kierra Neighbors, Kili Phillips, Lauren Givens, Lindsey Fulton, Makenlei Skaggs, Natalie Suoy, Paige Alford, Skyler Lawrence, Starr Lawrence, Taylor Burden, Victoria Vitek, Aaliyah Dockery, Aidrey Ayers, Alissa Phelps, Allison Clark, and Autumn Proctor.
