BCHS Boys' Golf Team In Action

With another school year starting, the Butler County High School Boys Golf team is in full swing! Greg Moore is the new coach and has plans to expand the program and to participate in more tournaments. The boys began practicing in July to prepare for the fast approaching 2013-2014 golf season. The team has 22 events scheduled, including two 18 hole tournaments and the final event being the regional tournament on September 30. The team has already participated in the Class A state qualifier as their first event of the season.

This year's team includes:
Senior- Jon Zlater
Juniors- Hunter Cardwell , Remington Harpe and Houston Jones
Sophomores- Eddie Phelps
The rest of the team is Easton Jones in 8th grade, Skyler Moore in 8th grade, Trevor Dockery in 7th grade, Zack West in 7th grade and Andrew Gill in 3rd grade.

On August 12th the boys traveled to Rolling Hills in Russellville to play Logan County. The match started off with good weather while toward the end the boys found themselves playing in heavy rain and wind conditions. Due to the weather all of the boys put up good enough scores to bring home the win. Hunter Cardwell led Butler County with a 40, his round included two birdies and he was medalist of the match. Houston Jones shot a 48, Eddie Phelps shot a 51 and Remmington Harpe rounded the score with a 56. The boys defeated Logan County by seven strokes. The final team score was 195-202.
The very next day the boys traveled to Western Hills golf course which is in Hopkinsville. Eddie Phelps shot 48, Houston Jones shot 49, Remmington Harpe had a 51, Brandon Jones put up a 52 and Hunter Cardwell shot 58. After the match was over Coach Moore told the boys that although this was not their best match he was glad to see them continue and finish with a good attitude. However, this was Eddie Phelps’s second match he had played in and he did a wonderful job withstanding the pressure and putting up a 48 for the team. Butler County took a loss at this match.
