BCHS Boys' Golf
The Butler County High School Boys' Golf Team has been very busy so far this season; they have had at least three matches every week since the kickoff in early August. On August 27th, the boys traveled to Breckinridge County. Ten golfers from Butler County participated; Hunter Cardwell, Houston Jones and Brandon Jones each shot 48, Remmington Harpe 53, Jon Zlater and Trevor Dockery each had a 54, Easton Jones 56, Eddie Phelps with a 57, Skyler Moore with a 59, Zack West with a 73. It was a good match for all of the younger players to experience the pressure of a different golf course. Matches like these will help build and add to the future of the golf team. Butler County fell short as Breck County won the match.
The August 28th match was canceled and is rescheduled for Wednesday September 4th at Hidden Valley Golf Course. On the August 29th the Bears traveled to Pennyrile State Park and played against three individuals from Dawson Springs and the team from Christian Fellowship. Butler County won this match with a score of 179. Remmington Harpe shot a strong round of 40, he led the Bears and was overall medalist of the match. Houston Jones shot 43, Hunter Cardwell 46 and Trevor Dockery posted the last score with a 50. Christian Fellowship shot a 192 as a team and since there were only three individuals from Dawson Springs they did not have a team score that counted.
Each individual on the team has showed great potential and progress throughout the season. There is a mix of young and more experienced players to help the growth of the team. The season still has a few matches left including two invitational tournaments and the Regional Tournament on September 30th.
