BCHS bids farewell to Class of 2023

On Friday, May 19th, Butler County High School hosted its graduation ceremony for the Class of 2023. The event was filled with significant moments and heartfelt speeches, marking the culmination of years of hard work and dedication for the over 150 graduating seniors.

The ceremony commenced with the Pledge of Allegiance led by senior Kylie Stephano, followed by a prayer delivered by Senior Tobin Maxfield, fostering a sense of unity and reverence among the attendees.

The atmosphere was further enriched by the musical performances of the Butler County High School Senior Choir. They impressed the audience with renditions of the Star-Spangled Banner, Alma Mater, and the beloved Country Roads, showcasing their musical talent and adding a touch of nostalgia to the ceremony.

Principal Stoye Young took the podium to deliver an address that emphasized the significance of inner character. Principal Young's speech resonated with the graduates, reminding them of the importance of integrity, perseverance, and compassion as they embark on their future journeys.

Following the principal's address, Delaney Daugherty, the Valedictorian of the Class of 2023, delivered an inspiring speech. Daugherty's words of wisdom and reflection encapsulated the experiences and lessons learned throughout their high school years. 

Pha Nguyen was recognized as the salutatorian, achieving outstanding academic success and making a significant contribution to the graduating class.

Counselors Patricia Chumley and Ashley McGinnis played an important role in the ceremony, awarding the seniors with their hard-earned diplomas. The diplomas symbolized the culmination of their high school journey and the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.

Class President Brady Jones introduced the highly anticipated "senior moment" and led the transition of stoles and hat toss. This symbolic gesture represented the completion of their high school education and the exciting transition into the next phase of their lives.

The graduation ceremony provided a memorable and joyous occasion for the graduates, their families, and the Butler County High School community. It served as a fitting tribute to the achievements and growth of the Class of 2023, as they bid farewell to their high school years and looked forward to the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
