Bears lose to Logan County 

 

MORGANTOWN - Following a scoreless first inning, Butler County gave up three runs in the top half of the second stanza and couldn't battle back as visiting Logan County eventually prevailed 7-1 in a high school baseball game on Thursday, May 13.

Keaton Slaughter earned the win on the mound for Logan County. Slaughter surrendered one run on seven hits over seven innings, recording five strikeouts. 

Will Embry took the pitching loss for Butler County. Embry pitched two innings, allowing three runs on one hit and striking out one.

Logan County edged the Bears 8-7 in the hits column.

Blake Wood went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Logan County's offensive attack. Wood drove in three runs for the Cougars.

Another Logan County batter, Harper Butler, doubled.

Hunter McKee and Carter Graham paced Butler County at the plate, providing two hits apiece. Delivering an extra-base hit, McKee doubled for the Bears. 

Logan County overcame three errors to notch the win.

The Bears made only one defensive miscue. 

 

Bears drop district game to Grayson County 

 

LEITCHFIELD - Visiting Butler County fell behind in the opening inning and couldn't battle back as Grayson County prevailed 10-1 in a 12th District baseball game on Tuesday, May 11. 

Mason Miller was the winning pitcher for the Cougars. Miller pitched a complete game, surrendering one run on eight hits over seven innings while striking out eight and walking zero.

Ross West took the pitching loss for the Bears. West allowed five runs on seven hits over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one.

In addition to West pitching, Eli Lewis, Will Embry and Jordan McCrady put in work on the mound for the Bears. 

The Cougars outhit the Bears 10-8 and overcame one error.

Chandler McCrady, Jaxon Higdon and Dain Hawkins recorded two hits apiece to combine to pace Grayson County offensively. 

Helping his pitching cause at the plate, Miller doubled and drove in three runs for the Cougars. 

Hunter McKee went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Butler County's offensive effort. 

Both Carter Graham and Kolton Hudson doubled for the Bears. 

Defensively, Butler County turned in an error-free performance. 

 

 

Bears notch district win over Cougars 

 

LEITCHFIELD - Winning on the road, visiting Butler County upended Grayson County 7-1 in a 12th District baseball game on Monday, May 10. 

Thriving late, Butler County erupted for seven runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning to take control of the 12th District baseball game.

The Bears outhit Grayson County 2-1 and finished error-free performance in the field. 

Hunter McKee pitched a complete game and earned the win on the mound for Butler County. McKee allowed one run on one hit while recording 16 strikeouts.

Dain Hawkins started the game on the mound for Grayson County. Hawkins allowed seven runs on two hits over six innings, striking out nine.

Carter Graham, Ross West and Clay Vincent each collected one hit for the Bears in the district win. 

Eli Watson recorded Grayson County's only hit. 

Defensively, Grayson County committed one error.
