Butler County 15 John Hardin 3
ELIZABETHTOWN — Butler County pulled away to beat John Hardin 15-3 in six innings at the Elizabethtown Sports Park on Tuesday, May 6.
With the win, Butler County improved to 12-9. Butler County notched its second straight win, winning for the sixth time in eight games.
The Bears scored first and never trailed. Finishing strong, Butler County plated four runs in each of its last two at-bats to claim the victory.
Mason West started on the mound for Butler County and earned the win. West pitched three innings and recorded four strikeouts.
Following West, Will Amos and Eli Oaks each pitched in relief for the Bears.
Butler County scored 15 runs on 10 hits. West (one hit), Amos (one hit), Oaks (two hits, three RBIs), Brycen Mode (two hits, three RBIs), Justin Castlen (one hit, three RBIs), Duncan Tyree (one hit, two RBIs), Garrett Phelps (one hit, one RBI) and Colt Akers (one hit) each excelled offensively for the Bears. Delivering an extra-base hit for Butler County, Mode doubled.
Bears upend Hopkins County Central
MADISONVILLE — Butler County pulled away to defeat Hopkins County Central 11-6 in a high school baseball game on Friday, May 2.
The Bears improved to 11-9 after registering the win.
Finishing strong, Butler County outscored Hopkins County Central 10-2 over the last four innings.
Mason West started on the mound for Butler County and pitched the first one and two-thirds innings. West tallied three strikeouts.
Following West, Duncan Tyree pitched five and one-third innings in relief for the Bears. Tyree recorded five strikeouts.
Butler County scored 11 runs on 10 hits. West (one hit, one RBI), Justin Castlen (two hits, three RBIs), Garrett Phelps (two hits, one RBI), Sam Hyatt (two hits, one RBI), Brycen Mode (one hit, two RBIs), Eli Oaks (one hit, two RBIs) and Will Amos (one hit) produced offensively in Butler County's victory. Castlen, Phelps and Oaks each doubled for the Bears.
Butler County and Hopkins County Central met for the first time in the 2025 high school baseball season. The Bears are scheduled to host the Storm for a late-season game on Tuesday, May 13.
Butler County is slated to visit Grayson County for its next game, a 12th District matchup, at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, May 5.
